The first thing I have to say about this show is WOW! Honestly, this was one fantastic show! The cast; David Fawcett, Andy Reiss, Cathy Cogle and Rebecca Vere (NB- Cathy and Rebecca hav now left the production and have been replaced by Shona White and Jennifer Meldrum, though Shona will be leaving shortly) were wonderful.
The show looked promising from the advertisment. As well as being a Phantom phan, I'm a Les Miz fan and I love musicals in general. As long as they sung Phantom, I was going to be satisfied and by ticket would be money well spent (I'm easily pleased!). However, I didn't expect the quality of show I was greeted with! The four extremly talented performers who took the stage that night, headed by the hilariously funny David Fawcett, certainly made it money well spent.
The show featured songs from many different shows, including: Phantom, Whistle Down the Wind, The Lion King, Starlight Express, Is there Life After Highschool?, Grease and Les Misérables. From what I've seen in the way of photographs, Andy usually sings All I Ask of You, but sadly we were deprived that treat as he was unwell! David and Cathy (I think) sung Phantom of the Opera and David also sung MOTN, all of which were wonderful, and made me wonder why none of the cast had actually appeared in Phantom!!
The Les Miz section was also amazing. I loved One Day More, for which they asked for "a bit of help", indicating the cast of 7, including the musicians. They then pointed out the that song is usually performed by 8 principles, a 40 strong ensemble and a 21 piece orchetra (or something like that!). Sadly, the audience weren;t exactly responsive to the request! I was, a I love to sing, although I'm not that good! (So why, you might ask, am I singing in a show?? Don't ask me, I really don't know!)
Basically, the show was wonderful and if you get the chance, go and see it!
